Americas: a decent proposal

In what will be commissioner Michael Piwowar’s last before his pending retirement, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) held an open meeting this Thursday to discuss and vote on a number of issues affecting the securities industry. Proposals were passed to expand the scope of smaller public companies that qualify for scaled disclosures amendments, that require the use of the inline XBRL format in certain filings; that allow certain exchange-traded funds to operate without obtaining a fund-specific exemptive order; that allow disclosures of liquidity risk management for open-end funds and changes to the whistleblower programme.
